Engineering Construction Manager

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Construction Manager to oversee site-based construction projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background and in gas transmission projects, with a solid understanding of civil and mechanical engineering works. The role requires a results-driven individual who can effectively manage construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction Management: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering construction projects, focusing on gas transmission systems and associated civil and mechanical works.
- Site Management: Act as the primary point of contact on-site, managing contractors, suppliers, and personnel to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise and guidance on civil and mechanical engineering tasks, including pipeline installation, compressor stations, and infrastructure development.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure adherence to HSE regulations and promote a culture of safety across all site activities.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, project teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
- Quality Control: Monitor construction quality, perform inspections, and ensure all work meets industry standards and client requirements.
- Resource Allocation: Manage manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently to achieve project milestones and reduce downtime.
- Reporting: Prepare and present progress reports, risk assessments, and project documentation to senior management and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering construction management, preferably in gas transmission projects.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of gas transmission systems, pipeline construction, and compressor station installations.
- Knowledge of civil works, including earthworks, foundations, and structural engineering.
- Familiarity with mechanical works, including welding, pipe fitting, and equipment installation.
- Strong IT Skills
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS, NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with UK construction regulations and HSE standards.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Attributes
- Previous experience working with major gas transmission operators or contractors.
- Strong understanding in gas transmission
- Civil engineering that aligns to gas (AGI’s & Transmission)
- Knowledge of industry standards such as IGEM/TD/1 and API codes.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and stay on-site for extended periods.
