Project Manager

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to join our team in the engineering construction industry, with a particular focus on projects within the gas sector. This is an exciting opportunity to lead diverse, high-value engineering projects across the UK, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of projects, leveraging their expertise to deliver excellence in every phase, from planning to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Execution:
    • Oversee the entire lifecycle of projects, from inception to delivery, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client expectations.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
    • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure seamless delivery.
    • Regulation and stakeholder management 
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Review and interpret engineering drawings and designs using AutoCAD, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
    • Collaborate with the client design teams to resolve technical issues and incorporate changes to project designs effectively.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage multidisciplinary mechanical, civil and E&I project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
    • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
    • Manage communications to ensure transparency and alignment with project goals.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure all projects comply with UK regulations, industry standards, and company policies, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
    • Champion a safety-first culture, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Contractual Management:
    • Manage projects in accordance with National Engineering Contracts 4 (NEC4), ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
    • Monitor contract performance and resolve disputes efficiently to maintain positive relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Financial Oversight:
    • Monitor project budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability.
    • Prepare and deliver financial reports, forecasts, and resource utilisation updates to senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes and incorporate innovative solutions to drive efficiency and quality.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the engineering construction industry.
    • Hands-on experience managing projects in the gas industry, preferably including transmission, distribution, or storage infrastructure.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction practices within the gas sector.
    • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, such as COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) and IGEM standards.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD to review and interpret engineering drawings and designs.
    • Proficient in the use of MS Project and or Primavera p6
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

Preferred Attributes
  • Prior experience in major gas pipeline or terminal projects.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in the gas sector (e.g., hydrogen, decarbonisation, or renewable gases).
  • Experience with modern project management tools and software.
  • Familiarity with advanced AutoCAD features and other design tools.
